Had booked a twin room but was surprised to be unexpectedly given a 2nd floor, 3 double bedroomed, 2 bathroom apartment, living/dining room with t.v, kitchen with fridge freezer, washing machine, cooker, microwave and dishwasher. Then the deliveries started to the shops and restaurants below my room. I could hear people talking as they walked past and the bin men came every morning between 3:00-4:00 and clattered and banged their way down the whole length of the small side street under my window. Large double glass panelled doors leading from the main bedroom onto a small balcony didn't close properly and even with the wooden shutters behind them, closed at night, the street noise was very loud. It was an old building which needed updating and some sort of sound proofing such as double glazing. The issue we had with the hotel was the outside noise. The hotel was 2 minutes away from The Puerta del Sol Square which was a constant hive of activity, very busy at all times. The beds were a good size and very comfortable. The apartment had a good air conditioning system, which we were so glad of as the temperature outside was well over 30c even into the night. Apartment was too big for the two of us really but would be ideal for a group of friends or family staying together.
